Kenpo Karate Principles Workshop

The workshop based on the principles of Kenpo which is open to participants of all skill levels. In the four hour session, we intend to explore how kenpo uses a series of core principles which enable it be fast, powerful and adaptive. By no means will every principle be covered in such a short time, but we will hopefully choose those which are interesting to newcomers and useful to practitioners of other martial arts should they want to come and train with us.

Women's Self-Defence Class

Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) is a set of crimes including domestic violence, rape, stalking and harassment to name but a few, that remain a threat to women of any age.
Our Women's Self Defence Class will focus on anti-rape techniques and is designed to empower women with a skillset which outlines how to reduce your chances of being targeted through situational awareness, what to do in the event of an attack and best practises following an attack.
This is one of the most pervasive societal problems that we currently face, it is our hope that by being pro-active and offering education that fewer women will be victims of violent crime in any of its iterations.
Anti-Bullying Class

Every year children of all ages encounter some form of bullying whether physical or psychological. With the ubiquity of internet enabled devices and social networks, bullying has taken on a whole new dimension but the goal remains the same - to victimise someone to make them feel inferior. Sometimes the repercussions of bullying on the victim are fleeting, where in other cases they may be more permanent.
Our Anti-Bullying Class will aim to educate students on how to deal with both the physical and emotional aspects of bullying - we do not advocate violence as anything but a last resort, but equally we teach techniques that ensure safety. We want to let victims of bullying know that do not have to suffer torment. We want to engender the sentiment in others that bullying is unacceptable and encourage action if they were to witness an event of this nature.
Introduction to MKKA Martial Arts

We intend to offer free introductory course to our core martial arts for adults namely Kenpo Karate, Aizu-Ryu Aiki-Jujutsu, Aizu-Ryu Kobu-Jutsu and Warrior Training. These sessions will give an impression of what prospective students can expect to experience in training with the MKKA. A separate introductory course for juniors (ages 6-14) will be offered for Kenpo Karate.
Ultimately, we believe that martial arts is a highly fulfilling endeavour that can be engaged with on multiple levels, whether that is for fitness, confidence, combat expertise or self-discipline. These introductory courses will offer a gateway to the martial arts of the Modern Kenpo Karate Association.
