Bujikan Ninjutsu - Takagi Yoshin-Ryū Jūtai-Jutsu Class | 17 November 2015

Tuesday, November 17th 2015

Location Tiger and Dragon Academy | Time 19:30 - 21:00 | Price £6

We are proud to announce that in place of our regular Kenpo Karate class on Tuesday November 17th, there will be a special Bujinkan Ninjutsu class which Shidoshi Rob Caskie has kindly offered to teach. The class will be focused on techniques from the Takagi Yoshin-Ryū Jūtai-Jutsu, a formidable Samurai Jujutsu that was developed in the early 17th century by Takagi Oriuemon Shigenobu which can be characterised by rapid movements that cannot be escaped or rolled out of.

The lineage is documented to have been established by Abe Unryu, a monk who was a master of Taijutsu, Bojutsu and Shurikenjutsu. These techniques were passed onto Ito Kii-no-Kami Sukesada who used them to develop his own Ito-ryu which also included the use of the Yari, Naginata, Hanbo and Katana. Ito would take Takagi, who was born into the Samurai caste, as a student to whom he would grant Menkyo Kaiden (full-proficiency) at the early age of 20. It is from this that Takagi Yoshin-Ryū Jūtai-Jutsu is said to have been developed and has since continued onto its 17th and current head.

This is a great opportunity to practice a powerful martial art that not only has a proven lineage, but also remains highly practical. We'd like to show our appreciation to Shidoshi Rob Caskie for taking the time to teach by committing our attendance to this class.
